In this article you will learn about all important item fields that need to be completed to create a new Menu Item.
To start, select a menu to modify and click the “+Add” button to create a new item (dish).
ITEM NAME, ITEM NOTE and ITEM DESCRIPTION
The ITEM NAME is the actual name of the dish, as you would like it to appear on your digital menu.
ITEM NOTE is an optional short description which will be displayed on the primary page of your menu, but will not be displayed when a customer clicks on the dish to read the full ITEM DESCRIPTION.
Provide clarity and personality with the ITEM DESCRIPTION. Highlight the components of your dish while injecting flavor into your descriptions. Utilize HTML formatting to customize text, making it bold, italicized, or aligned to your preference.
IMAGES and VIDEOS
Bring your menu to life with captivating IMAGES and VIDEOS. Showcase your dishes in all their glory to tempt your guests into ordering.

Don't worry if you don't have professional photos yet, take advantage of our FREE food photography tutorials to master the art of food photography with just your phone.
If you prefer a hands-off approach, My Menu offers professional photography and videography at competitive prices. Just contact your account manager to arrange a session. This is available in some countries only.
To allow a fast loading time of your menu, the recommended size for the images is 2MB-4MB and for videos, 3MB-5MB.
PRICE
Flexibility is key in the PRICE section.
Add multiple prices for different size dishes, like small, medium and large pizzas. Ensure each price has a corresponding description for clarity.
Venues also have the option to add calories and/ or carbon emissions by dish, in this section if they wish.

Prioritize health and safety by clearly defining INGREDIENT WARNINGS and ALLERGENS. From gluten-free to nut-free options, ensure your guests can make informed choices about their meals.

GOES WELL WITH
Boost sales by suggesting complementary dishes in the 'GOES WELL WITH' section.

ADD COMBOS
Pair your main dishes with sides to effectively upsell your menu items. A prime example of a combo is pairing burgers with fries and soda to create an irresistible package. This not only enhances your guests' dining experience but also offers them a better price than ordering each item individually.
PREPARATION TIME
Manage your guests' expectations with the PREPARATION TIME settings. Provide accurate estimates of how long it takes to prepare each dish, particularly beneficial for time-pressed customers.
ITEM LABELS
Promote and upsell menu items by labelling them as NEW or SIGNATURE. Highlighting these items with special stickers draws attention and entices guests to try something new or signature to your establishment.
COLOR CODE
My Menu customers based in India can adhere to food safety regulations by selecting COLOR CODES for mandatory labeling. Ensure compliance while adding visual cues to your menu items.
SPICINESS SCALE
Use this section to assess and display the spiciness level of your dishes to ensure accuracy in your menu descriptions, effectively manage guest expectations, and provide necessary warnings.
TAXES
Use this section to show any additional taxes applicable to be added to the listed price of your dish.
PRINT GROUP
Streamline the destination of your orders using the PRINT GROUP section. For instance, direct food orders to the kitchen and drinks orders to the bar for efficient organization.
PUBLISHED and SNOOZE
Control visibility with the PUBLISHED option. Choose to display or hide items from your menu, giving you flexibility in managing your offerings.
If a menu item is unavailable, you have the option to temporarily suspend it for a specified duration using the SNOOZE button.
AVAILABILITY
Within this section, you have the flexibility to choose when your item appears on your menu. Whether it's for a specific day, such as a "Monday Special," a special event like Mother's Day, or an everyday menu item, you have the option to tailor the display accordingly.
NUTRITION INFO
This section enables you to display the nutritional facts per dish. Our in-house professional nutritionist can help you break down your dish components to inform your guests about the nutritional value in each item.
